Reflection

For my first year at ACSS this has been a great experience. My transition from middle to high school was very smooth with everything falling into place. Despite my positive start I was initially very nervous to begin high school, but now that I am here it would feel wrong to not be here.As for my experiences within Rec.I have found it very enjoyable. From running intamurals to Tough Mudder all of it has taught me a lot about leadership and cooperation. This is a year I will never forgot as it a year of many firsts.First year at high school, first year in Rec., and the first year of changing the way people think about this school. I hope that next year I will be able to take on greater leaderships roles and help guide the next group of grade nines coming in.

Initiative

Taking initiative is what leadership is all about.Leaders must set an example if they want others to follow them so taking charge of a situation is a must. The others aspects of leading can only take someone so far if  they never actually take initiative. However initiative is not only about taking charge it is also about being to act independently without assistance. For example if a person a has job to do everyday they would know what do.Let`s say that someone usually tells them to do it but today there was no one there.Should they just not do their job, well of course not if they know what they are doing they should be doing it without direction in the first place.Recapping two types of initiative are the ability to take charge and the act of being able to independently do jobs.

Character

One's character is shown through their actions and how they think and act.So the character of a leader is very important as it decides what people think of them. The good character of a leader is a must as it can really change how enthusiastic people are to work with them. Some of the good qualities that make up good character have already been touched on in this blog such as patience, humility, gratitude .All of these make one easier to work with as they will give others the time they need as well and be grateful for the work of others. On the other hand  a person with bad character who is short-tempered, arrogant, and selfish would surely be more difficult and less enjoyable to cooperate. To summarise good character helps grow relationships while bad characters can stunt them.

Patience

I don't mean to be that guy.But you know what they say patience is a virtue.I truly believe that too.Patience is something that you have work towards. Its takes self control to be patient and depending on the situation it could take alot of self-control.
For example you could be training someone to do a job. They may mess up alot and you may be frustrated with them.An impatient person may just fire them and hire a new person. While a patient one might  take the time to train them because they believe the person could do it.

Humility

Should a Leader be hunble?Or should they be prideful? There are ups and downs to both, but I believe most people would prefer a humble one.
Here's why.No one likes someone who's is full of themselves.Whether they are bragging or just showing off because they can.Praise is good thing, but when all you do is use it to feed your ego it becomes bad. If I did when I talked to you was boast and say I'm better than you would enjoy talking and working with me. Probably not.
On the other hand, if I was humble and actually genuinely wanted to talk and work with you.You might find me pleasant to be around.
I'm not trying to say that pride is a bad thing. You should stand up for what you believe, but if you're just putting people down then there's a problem.

Attitude

What is the right attitude? Really depends on the situation and your mood doesn't it. At a funeral your attitude may be different  then at a party. But I don't know you personally. What I do know is what kind of attitude I want a leader. They should have an open mind and always be open to suggestions/try ready to try new ideas. Some enthusiasm would be nice, because working with someone who's upbeat is much more encouraging then someone who doesn't seem interested.
Leaders should  be positive and friendly. This helps build stronger ties with the people working together. The people who work with leaders should also recipitate the attitude to help build a healthy work environment.

Gratitude

Gratitude. Why should a leader show it?Let me rephrase the question for you.How would you like it if you worked hard on a project/job for someone and they brushed it off like it was nothing.I would imagine you wouldn't be too happy and probably wouldn't try as hard the next time. The reason a leader should show gratitude is that it lets the people being led know that they are appreciated for all the hard work and time they dedicate to the project/job or whatever is being done.
As a leader having reliable people to work with is wonderful,so treat them as you would want to be treated. No one likes being mistreated.
